"I am the Alpha and the Omega." This is a powerful statement. One that was said by God describing himself. Most of us heard it from the Bilble, while others may of heard it from a movie or video game. Either way the statement just commands authority. Sadly, people in positions of power have become to think of themselves as such. These people could be doctors, politicians, corporate big wigs, or bosses of various kinds. Yet who are they to place themselves upon a pedastool and look down upon us? Are they not human? Do they not catch illnesses or have emotional stress as the rest of us, the simple worker bees? I can comprehend how hard it must be to remain humble especially when one is in a position that gets constantly catered by others. But they must remember it is the commoners that have held them up to this position. They, as well as ourselves, can remain humble if we consitently remember to serve. Serve others in need and serve causes that help those in need. It's generous to donate money but it's even more generous to donate our time. Just a few hours a week can change the life of someone as well as our own. No amount of wealth, power nor fame can give us that special joy felt deep inside like doing an act of kindness or servitude.Even we, the simple man, can think of ourselves as the Alpha and the Omega when we get so caught in our little worlds. If only we can look up and see the bigger world around us. Take the tradgic event of the Boston Marathan Bombings for example. Two men thought of themselves as the Alpha and the Omega and inflicted death and pain. But out of the ashes rose ordinary people who became heroes to so many. Instead of fleeing, many men and women knowingly ran into danger to aid the wounded. This is an example of a true test of character. We hope inside and tell ourselves we would of helped. But would we of really when that moment comes? Because that moment, small or big, happens everyday in the world around us. So what will you do?
